To machine & process requirement
The screw and barrel are among the most critical wear components in plastic processing machinery. Their material, geometry, surface treatment and dimensional accuracy directly affect plasticisation, mixing, output consistency and service life.
Ashwath Machinery supplies screw and barrel solutions selected according to the machine configuration, polymer being processed and operating conditions. From general-purpose nitrided assemblies to bimetallic and high-wear configurations, we help customers select the appropriate construction for their application.
Manufactured against drawings, samples or confirmed machine specifications.
Material and surface treatment selected according to polymer, fillers and wear conditions.
Suitable for replacement of worn components as well as higher-wear applications.
Why Choose It: Substantially increased wear resistance compared with standard nitrided construction.
Why Choose It: Designed for applications where abrasive wear and process conditions exceed general-purpose requirements.
*Specifications and typical values vary according to diameter, design and application. Manufactured to applicable JIS / DIN dimensional or material specifications.
Replacement screws, barrels and assemblies for injection moulding machines across different tonnages and shot capacities.
Screw and barrel configurations for extrusion applications requiring controlled conveying, melting and homogenisation.
Higher-wear configurations for glass-filled and mineral-filled compounds designed to prevent premature erosion.
Material combinations suitable for more demanding processing temperatures, corrosive additives, and aggressive wear conditions.

Provide your machine model, processing polymer, and wear requirements below. Our engineering team will review your parameters and issue an indicative quotation or technical evaluation.
Machine make/model, screw diameter, dimensions or drawing, polymer and current operating conditions are normally required. Providing wear history and operating melt temperatures also helps our engineering team assess whether an upgraded metallurgy is recommended.
Depending on the application, dimensions can be established from an existing component or technical drawing. Our team can take critical dimensional measurements, including thread profile, L/D ratio, and shank dimensions directly from a physical sample.
Nitrided components use a hardened surface layer, while bimetallic barrels incorporate a wear-resistant alloy layer in the barrel bore, providing increased resistance for more abrasive applications. Bimetallic barrels offer significantly extended service life when processing filled or corrosive resins.
Filled and reinforced materials generally require higher wear resistance than standard polymers. The correct construction depends on filler percentage, polymer, processing conditions and machine design. Typically, bimetallic barrels paired with tungsten carbide hard-faced or tool steel screws are recommended.
The available supply configuration can include complete assemblies or individual replacement components depending on the requirement. We supply standalone screws, replacement barrel sleeves, non-return valve (ring check) assemblies, end caps, and nozzles.
Requirements can be evaluated from machine specifications, drawings or samples rather than relying solely on machine brand. We regularly engineer and supply assemblies compatible with European, Taiwanese, Japanese, and Chinese machinery brands.
Send us your machine model, component drawings, or resin wear requirements. Our engineering desk will evaluate your parameters and deliver a precise technical quote.
